Affectionately known as … the poster child for single moms, on The Tom Joyner Morning Show … Myra J. stands out as a gifted and versatile performer. She is co-creator & one of the writer’s for the hit radio soap opera, “It’s Your World”.
Her comedic reflections & joke telling led to appearances in the blockbuster movie … “The Gospel” as well as other films such as “Indecent Proposal” (starring Demi Moore), “House Party” (starring Kid –n- Play), “Bulworth” (starring Halle Berry & Warren Beatty) and “Hollywood Shuffle” (starring Robert Townsend).
She’s recently made a guest appearance on the UPN top-rated comedy show … “Eve”. If you haven’t seen her, you may have heard her … on “The Proud Family” … and as the voice of the evil Dorothea, in “Bebe’s Kids”.
She’s been on cable shows such as Showtime’s “Linc’s”, Sinbad’s Summer Jam, Evening at the Improv and HBO’s Def Comedy Jam. Myra has been a featured writer for the T.V. sitcoms “Martin”, “Hanging’ With Mr. Cooper”, and “Good News”.
In addition, Myra J. has been the voice over in numerous radio commercials, as well as a Belding award winner for an anti-smoking spot that she wrote and was featured.
The native Chicagoan attended Illinois State University where she received a B.A. in Communication and a Masters in Education. After working for many years in social services, Myra decided to switch gears and pursue her passion of comedy. She’s never looked back.
Currently, Myra J. is a featured writer & performer on the Tom Joyner Show, a weekly syndicated, television variety show … and, you can expect to see her across the country with the Pantene Total You Tour as the “Spirit Person” three years in a row.
When not displaying her comedic wit, Myra focuses her attention to Women and Child Abuse Agencies. Myra’s most recent venture is as an entrepreneur. She has created a line of greeting cards … highlighting the wisdom and celebrating the spirit … of the “The Single Mom”.
